Since its inception in 2003, Child's Play Charity has raised over $35 million that has been donated to children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters. Starting as a charity based on the web comic “Penny Arcade” to prove something different about video game players, Child's Play has become much more.

November 13th from 6pm to 3am

On November 24th, 2003, Gabe of the massively popular online comic “Penny Arcade” posted this article announcing the start up of their new charity Child's Play. He clearly stated that he wanted to change something about the perspective of gamers in the media.

"The media seems intent on perpetuating the myth that gamers are ticking time bombs just waiting to go off. I know for a fact that gamers are good people,” said Gabe.

In 2003, Child’s Play raised $250,000 for the Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Penny Arcade asked users for donations and items to be bought from an Amazon wish list. Since then Child’s Play has expanded to over 100 hospitals worldwide, with 85 in the United States. As of October 2015, Child’s Play has raised over $35 million! In May 2014, Child’s Play expanded its services and donations to domestic violence shelters.

Child’s Play allows others to set up events themselves through their website. This allows almost anyone to help create their own respective events to raise money for Child's Play. Check out our Game-A-Thon's event page.
